Allsorts and Cup Cakes

The title sounds like my sort of party!  Just a quick post today because my darling Daughter is home from university and I need to spend some time with her, just snuggling up!

This week, the Allsorts Challenge is 'to make a card/ gift for Mothers Day or for someone who is like a mum to you'.  I decided to incorporate the challenge from Cupcake Craft, which was 'Round and Round' this week, i.e. to use circles in your project.

Papers: printed gardening book text and Cosmo Cricket 'Garden Variety'

This is a little gardening gift box - my mum really likes her garden and it's just the right time here to be thinking about sowing some seeds.  Her gift will be a packet of her favourite seeds and a small jar of gardener's handcream (probably Burt's Bees), for soothing tired gardening hands.

This is another of the little boxes I bought recently.  I sourced and printed some old gardening book pages and covered the whole box in these first, before inking the box to age it a little.  Then I cut some Cosmo Cricket 'Garden Variety' papers to fit some corners of the box and inked them also before sticking them on.

The sentiment was created on my PC and cut out with my Nestabilities, which I also used to cut the yellow Bazzill mat.  Then I punched six small circles out of red card and stuck these to the back of the yellow mat to form 'petals'.  The whole thing is held together with a dark green brad before securing to the bottom of the box only, so that the lid can still open.

The image was coloured with my Copics and then matted and layered on to scalloped circles in co-ordinating colours.  I added a green bow and yellow button and heart and key charms completed the top of the box.

So, tonight we're having a celebratory dinner with my parents (it's my b-day later this week) and then home for hot chocolate and a cuddle - never too old for cuddles, are they?

Happy crafting
