Simply Vintage for CPS

This is the first post for today - there will be another one later, because I don't want to miss tomorrow's deadline for a special project I've been working on.  I can't stop long because I've got to take Daughter to the station - today she goes to stay with her boyfriend and his parents for a week - oooooo, young love!

So, at CPS this week, the sketch was very simple:

This is also a layout that I used to use lots, in several versions, so I'm quite comfortable with this one.  The proportions are a little different, i.e. top heavy in this case, so I wanted to make sure that the image remained the focal point.

Image: Digital Two for Tuesday (where you will find lots of beautiful vintage images)

Papers: DCWV 'Linen Closet' collection (top); Cloud 9 Design 'Trellis' (bottom).

Other: Ribbon from stash; Guipure lace purchased from Cuddly Buddly

Tools: Nestabilities circle die.

The papers are fairly subtle but with sufficient colour to pick up accents when colouring.  This image is a 'quick colour' one - it doesn't take much more than a bit of shading to bring it to life.  This photograph doesn't really do it justice - hopefully the close-up will be more use in showing the very light shading on the window, the china and the curtains.  Everything else is about the skin tones and the dress, really, so it really doesn't take much to give it some character.

The Guipure lace is very heavy and, for me, it really is the 'big gun' of embellishment as I find it difficult to use lace appropriately.  But in this instance I think it works well with the vintage image and the subtlety of the papers - it would definitely be too much with a more patterned paper.

So, it's time for me to link up then off to the station - I hate goodbyes.  Daughter is so looking forward to seeing Boyfriend after two weeks apart so the five-and-a-half hour journey is nothing with such a prize at the end!

I'll be back later for post number two but 'til then,

Happy crafting.
