All Things Bright and Beautiful

Aaaah, this hymn always brings back memories of schooldays - little voices singing loudly (usually mine!) and then much shuffling while 'Miss' delivered the message of the day!  And it's the theme for this week's The Pink Elephant Challenge: 'Gotta wear shades - use bright fun colours!'  So, because I was always a good little schoolgirl, I've done as I'm told and, sticking with the school theme, came up with:

Image: Mo's Digital Pencil, 'Trinity'

Papers: October Afternoon, 'Report Card' and others

Other: Buttons and star from stash.

Trinity is obviously teacher's pet - look at that huge apple she's taking to school!  Isn't she adorable?  Lots of fun to colour.  And the October Afternoon papers are so appropriate for Mo's school children images.

However, there is an added extra with this project.  Being an office manager has it perks - I usually get all the free chocolate at Christmas and Easter and I also get all sorts of other little gifts from one particular recruitment company.  Last week, I was lucky enough to receive a little pillow box with a pencil, eraser and sharpener in.  Well, say no more - what do we crafters do with free stuff?  That's right, we alter it!  Here's the result:

Here's Trinity with her altered pillow box and, of course, you'll want to see the contents too.  I rolled the pencil in some co-ordinating paper, just for extra fun.

I'm delighted with this - a perfect little starting school gift methinks. (Remember, I do have a bit of an obsession with stationery - see my 'Harvard' post here and you'll see where it comes from!)

I coloured up with my Copics, as usual, with a little bit of Prisma in there for good measure.  It would appear that I'm fixated on yellow at the moment - may be it's in hopes of summer arriving.  (Mind you, it's been hot and sunny today and the forecast is not too bad!)  I love her little rucksack - I can just imagine her new books and pencils in there!  (See, we're back to that stationery thing again!)

I'm also going to enter this project in to Little Red Wagon's challenge this week - they want us to use an altered embellishment.  Well, aside from the fact that I've altered the whole pencil box, see that big yellow star at the top of the card?  Well, that's an altered chipboard star - started off as nude and I painted it a nice bright yellow and shaded the edges.  I hope that counts!

So, off to play with Mr Linky and then a bit of television before bedtime because I'm up early in the morning, despite it being Saturday (bah!).

Happy crafting.
