Today is the first of my month as Guest Designer at Karen's Doodles. As those who read my blog regularly will know, the invitation to appear on Karen's USA Challenge Blog came completely out of the blue and I'm delighted to have been asked. Karen has some amazing designers on all of her challenge blogs and to be part of such a great team this month is a real honour.
We start the month with a great challenge - embossing, dry or heat - and I am really looking forward to seeing all your creative entries. Of course, the DT have come up with some wonderful examples to inspire you, so don't forget to visit them and leave some love.
So, without further ado, meet Herbert:
Image: Karen's Doodles, 'Herbert Birthday Cupcake'
Papers: October Afternoon
Tools: EK Success Retro Flower punches; Floral Punch leaf spray; Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.
Isn't he just the cutest turtle you have ever seen? And, what's more, he's bringing cake, which is always a good thing, in my opinion.
I have embossed the dotty green stripe behind the image and, although it is very difficult to see (and even more difficult to photograph, as I found out), I have actually embossed, by hand, Herbert's shell, to raise the 'scales' (? I have no idea what they are called!) and the edge. I spent hours trying to get a proper photograph but the closest I managed to get to showing the embossing is here:
I coloured Herbert up with my Copics and added a little depth and background with my Prismacolor pencils, as always.
I had to add a little Glamour Dust to the cupcake icing, just to finish it off.
I chose a long card this time - it looks like Herbert has quite a walk to deliver that cake!
This card was such fun to make - Herbert made me smile all the time.
I hope you've enjoyed my first Karen's Doodles project. Now it's your turn. To be in with a chance to win images from Karen's Doodles, just use a Karen's Doodles image and follow the theme and who knows - it could be you!
Happy crafting.
xx
