It's Isabella Time!

Would the person who stole my week please return it as soon as possible.  I haven't done everything I wanted to do in the last seven days and I'd very much appreciate getting some of the time back!  I can't believe we are in August already! Mind you, I passed a neighbour's garden the other day and there was a riot of sunflowers growing, all sizes - they were splendid.  And it gave me an idea for this week's Isabella's Sketchbook Challenge, which is to use buttons and bows:

Image: Isabella's Sketchbook, 'Floral Tag 2'

Papers: October Afternoon and (just peeking out) Cloud 9

Tools: EK Success Retro Floral Punch, medium.

I'd been wanting to use my sunflower paper for a long time - although, strangely, it become a very minor part of this project in the end.  But it reminded me so much of this lovely tag from Isabella's Sketchbook that it provided the perfect starting point for this design.

The colouring this week was very simple - just some shading, really, picking up the colours from the sunflower paper. I didn't want to try to be 'realistic' with my colouring either - it was intended to be bold and eye-catching, without too much detail. Done with my Copics, with the slightest (barely visible!) shading with my Prismas, which really only had the effect of knocking the white off the tag background (which is what I wanted), I kept the finished image simple yet striking and teamed it up with some beautiful bright and bold yellows. I added a trio of contrasting buttons and some beautiful green satin ribbon, just to pick up the greens in the coloured image, then finished off with some simple flowers and a sentiment banner. I'm really quite pleased with the way it turned out, even if it was a bit 'organic' in the making.

So, it's over to you now. Use buttons and bows this week to embellish your projects as much as you wish. Please remember though that you must use an Isabella's Sketchbook image for your challenge entry - sadly, entries that do not use an Isabella's Sketchbook image cannot be considered and will have to be removed from the challenge, which we don't like having to do.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's creations - with such a talented bunch of ladies, there's bound to be lots of wonderfulness to inspire you.

I look forward to seeing your fabulous creations.

  5. Hi Peri,

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog earlier today. The die you asked about is by Szzix and is called Branch with Leaves. It's one of their smaller dies and I actually use it quite frequently. I bought it recently so it should still be available. Hope that helps.

    Hugs,
    Linda
