Getting Creative in the Corner

Gosh! I can't believe that another week is coming to an end already!  And this weekend is an important one because my DD is coming home from uni for the summer! Yaaaay!  Again, though, where have the months gone? She has completed her first year and yet it seems only moments since we were dropping her off for the first time.  Can't wait to have her home for a while though - we miss her terribly.

I thought it might be nice to see if I could make a pretty card without using my Copics or Prismas.  Strange, I know, but true!  This week, Our Creative Corner is challenging us to use a combination of blues and greens on our project, which is one of my favourite combos.  And I needed a sketch and where better to look than 2 Sketches 4 You, where Laura has a lovely sketch this week:

So here it is, my 'no colouring' card:

Papers: 3 Bugs in a Rug, 'Blossom' collection

Tools:  EK Success Retro Flower Punches; Floral Punch leaf spray (yup, you guessed it!)

Aren't these papers pretty?  It's my first time using them (I've been hoarding) and I just love them.  What a beautiful combination of colours!

I placed the squares so that the yellow pattern would show below the flowers on the left and above the 'tile' on the right - just so there a little relief in the blue/green combo.

The little 'tile' is recycled from a bookmark a friend gave me.  I managed to spill water on the bookmark itself and it started to wilt somewhat but I rescued this little sentiment tile and have been waiting to use it.  I sponged around the edges with some green chalk, just to tie it in with the colour scheme.

So, it is possible to make a card without a digi image - I was beginning to think I'd lost the knack.  I'm really quite pleased with this one, too, which helps.  Maybe I should try a 'no colouring' card once a month, just to keep my hand in!?

But for now, where are my Copics?

Happy crafting.

  4. This is really lovely, Peri! Beautiful shades of blue and green and I love the flourish shape you created with the flowers. One of these days I MUST track down that Retro flower punch. Every time I see it used, I drool. Awesome job on the color challenge. So happy you could have some fun with us this week at Our Creative Corner!
