Three in One - To The Beach!

I find it somewhat ironic that as I sat making this card it was raining outside, after many days, or even weeks, of good weather!  Still the gardens need some water and it's quite nice to have a break from the humidity, which just wears me out.

Today's card is for three challenges:

Little Red Wagon - Use Nestabilities
DP2 Challenge (Mo's Digital Pencil) - Beach/Summer
Stamp TV Wednesday Inspiration Challenge - use this photograph for inspiration:

Isn't that an amazing print?  It makes me feel all tropical!  Anyway, these three challenges seemed to go really well together and this is what I came up with:

Image: Mo's Digital Pencil, 'To The Beach' (two versions available)

Papers: October Afternoon

Tools: Scalloped circle Nestabilities; Martha Stewart order punch

Fantastic image - could almost be a photograph of me (ha-ha! I wish)!  This little hottie is getting ready for some serious sun, methinks!

I picked up the colours from the inspiration photograph and coloured her up with my Copics.  The sand was done with random dots in multiple shades of yellow, to give some texture and to prevent it all looking too heavy.  Then I went in with my Prismas for that glorious blue sky!

I wanted to make some hibiscus flowers - that's why the centres have a kind of 'tail',  it was my attempt at the stamen.  Mind you, hibiscus are single-layer flowers so these really aren't anything like hibiscus at all.  Still, I tried!  They were made with scalloped circles cut with my Nesties, snipped and curled and layered.  The 'leaves' were cut free hand.  The sentiment 'Aloha' seemed appropriate, as I'm sure she must be in Hawaii or somewhere equally exotic!

I'm off to link up and then finish my dinner - I escaped between courses to get this posted!

Happy crafting. xx
